With a chavtastic reputation for using the fur of the dead on its clothes, Burberry has refused to adopt a compassionate and caring approach to fashion in favor of decorating the idiotic with the innocent.
Like us, you probably can't understand how a large fashion retailer thinks it can overcome its council-chic image by going back to caveman ethics. Burberry needs to know that it's not going to happen. No matter how much money the company throws at advertising campaigns and label remodeling, until it ditches the skin in favor of humane fashion, it will always be the label of plaid caps, football violence, and teen pregnancy.
So many others, including Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Marc Bouwer, have decided to go fur-free—surely it's time that Burberry followed their example.
Every year, millions of animals are slaughtered for companies like Burberry. Fur farmers use the cheapest and cruelest killing methods, such as anal electrocution and poisoning. Animals trapped in the wild for their fur are strangled, beaten, crushed to death, or drowned. Some animals are so desperate to escape the traps that they chew off their own limbs.
Here's what we want you to do:
Burberry officials need to know how we feel about their contributing to the deaths of millions of innocent animals every year. Without our opposition, the company will continue to get away with supporting mass murder on a daily basis. So with that in mind, give Burberry officials a call and tell them how you feel about their use of fur in fashion.
- Dial +44-020-7968-0000 and ask to speak to Angela Ahrendts. (Have a short message for her planned.)
- Don't get too carried away, but be enthusiastic—you need to get the message through to her!
Remember, if you are not transferred to Angela Ahrendts, you can speak with anyone at Burberry. Everyone who works there should feel responsible for these deaths.
When you have completed the mission, make sure you let us know how it went by writing it up in a report and sending it to StreetTeam@peta2.com. We will then give you 500 points, and you will be happy knowing that you have helped to rid the fashion world of animal fur.
If you are not already a member, make sure you join the peta2 Street Team here, and start helping animals while earning yourself some crazy peta2 merchandise in the process.
