Less than two months after peta2 put out a call for phone calls and e-mails from Street Teamers, MySpace and Facebook friends, and other concerned people around the world, Burton Snowboards has committed to going fur-free. Thank you all for voicing your opposition to the fur industry and for supporting companies that take a stand against slaughtering animals for their fur! Burton prides itself on being environmentally conscious, so it’s great to see the company extend its consideration to animals who are often beaten, drowned, or electrocuted to death on fur farms.
With Burton replacing its fur trim items with fake fur, the extreme sports community is even stronger than ever in uniting against cruelty to animals! In fact, to our knowledge, none of the major apparel companies in the snowboarding community uses real fur, including Ride, DC Shoes, and Volcom. Thanks to everyone for helping with this campaign!
Now that Burton Snowboards has agreed to replace its real fur, we need your help to pressure Guess?, Inc., to go fur-free immediately. Even though the company has publicly announced that it will stop selling fur, it may still be ordering fur until September 1, 2007, and selling as much as it can until April 2008! We are glad that Guess? has pledged to go fur-free, but it is inexcusable to keep buying and selling fur for so long, given other companies' total and immediate bans on fur. If Burton was kind enough to switch immediately to faux fur, why can't Guess?, Inc., do the same?
Click below to urge Guess?, Inc., to drop all fur immediately!
