What you’re about to see may shock you. After spending 11 months at a lab owned by the billion-dollar drug-testing company Covance, an undercover investigator released the following video showing monkeys with broken arms who were denied proper veterinary care and left to suffer for up to four days. Other primates, used in lethal irradiation experiments, developed open wounds on their stomachs and were denied euthanasia just to please the drug company. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) shares the blame for this disturbing cruelty to animals. When PETA called the USDA for urgent help during our investigation, the agency took five days to respond. Meanwhile, primates inside Covance’s lab continued to be tortured and abused.
Covance and the USDA must be held accountable. For 500 Street Team points, use our automatic e-mail form to contact Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns and ask that he personally oversee the investigation into animal mistreatment at Covance. Tell everyone you know about PETA’s investigation into Covance by entering their e-mail addresses into this form, and we’ll give you an additional 250 points. Before we can give you points for your efforts for animals, you have to join the Street Team.
