Vote for the Cutest Vegetarian Alive!

by Marta Holmberg

After tirelessly poring through the more than 3,000 nominations we received, our eyes started to cross from staring at so many adorable faces for hours on end. But somehow we've managed to narrow down the list to 10 boys and 10 girls. It was no easy task—there are a ton of cute vegetarians out there, and there were more than a few disputes here in the office over our personal favorites (though no fist fights broke out, luckily). So we need your help to determine who really is the "Cutest Vegetarian Alive." You can vote for one boy and one girl, but be warned—peta2 cannot be held accountable for any crushes suffered or heartbeats skipped as a result of the following photos.

All fields in bold are mandatory.

The Boys

  Sam Chisholm
Age 18
Keene, New Hampshire
Sam will be doing a summer-long tour down the East Coast with his band, Mercutio, and says he went vegetarian because of "his love and compassion for all living things."

  Tod Barnett
Age 20
Portland, Oregon
Tod has been surrounded by animals all his life and is looking to adopt a retired greyhound. He says he's always been an environmentalist, adding, "Going vegan just made it part of my every day life."

  Mike Osorio
Age 21
Santa Cruz, California
This UC Santa Cruz senior and Sigma Lambda Beta brother says that as a seven-year Latino vegetarian, he’s broken stereotypes within a culture that he says is "known to be nothing but hungry meat-eaters."

  Elliott Whitehead
Age 17
Surrey, United Kingdom
Elliott says: "I love making vegan friendly milkshakes, then watching a film while sipping them somewhat enthusiastically."

  Ben Hughes
Age 17
Dennis Port, Massachusetts
Break dancer, web designer, musician, vegetarian—need we say more?

  Zack Zeilman
Age 16
Groton, Connecticut
Zack has been a vegetarian for almost 11 years now (wow!), loves to play soccer, and has recently started modeling.

  Jed Martin
Age 22
Hohenfels, Germany
This vegan Army man and Vermont native is stationed in Germany, has served a full year in Iraq, and says, "Once a week, I have a 'Boca Party' in my barracks, where everyone enjoys lovely vegan treats."

  Reiss Reid
Age 17
Birmingham, United Kingdom
Reiss is interested in Forensics and plans on studying it at Uni this September. He went vegetarian when he realized he couldn't "claim to like animals and eat them."

  Havis Stepp
Age 19
Hendersonville, North Carolina
Havis is into art and photography and inspires those around him to go vegetarian. He likes hugs, hair design, video games, and pickled okra.

  Scott Quigley
Age 21
Manassas, Virginia
Scott sings in the band The Kidnapping and is "a firm believer that every living thing has a right to live."

The Girls

  Nikki Dell
Age 16
Red Lion, Pennsylvania
This lady sleeps, eats, and breathes music and does hair and makeup for her school musical department. Nikki says that after going vegetarian, she "felt more happy and healthy not eating meat."

  Anokhi Patel
Age 17
Lake Villa, Illinois
Anokhi loves volunteering and is involved in student government. She's been a vegetarian her entire life, mainly because of religion, but says it’s also because "eating animals is ethically wrong and repulsive."

  Odessa Nikolic
Age 19
Moreno Valley, California
Odessa is obsessed with costume-making, sunglasses, and snowboarding. She read a PETA leaflet four years ago about vegetarianism and hasn't eaten meat since.

  Caytee Hightower
Age 16
Chesapeake, Virginia
Caytee likes to play the guitar and listen to music and says, “I am very firm in my beliefs, and I try and show others every day how eating meat is not necessary and how it harms poor helpless animals.”

  Kaila Nemoto
Age 20
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Kaila’s a break-dancer, she can play five instruments, and she likes to put anti-fur leaflets up at her university. She used to be a die-hard meat-eater but has been a vegetarian for the past year.

  Natalie Edwards
Age 17
O'Fallon, Missouri
Natalie is outgoing and athletic, and she loves to read. She doesn’t cuss, loves piercings, and hates that animals are treated so horribly in the meat industry.

  Kayla Blackburn
Age 15
Kitchener, Ontario
Kayla loves all types of music, from reggae to metal to punk, and says she went vegetarian because she began to feel weird about eating other things that were alive.

  Kerri Morris
Age 20
Richmond, Kentucky
This political science major at Eastern Kentucky University grew up on a chicken farm and prefers music from her parents’ generation or “anything with a little banjo.” Kerri says that after going vegan, she could never go back.

  Jazzy Burton
Age 14
Waller, Texas
Jazzy Biz (as her friends call her) says she can make just about everyone around her laugh. She went vegetarian because what animals are put through made her sick and she “couldn’t stand to look at meat anymore, let alone eat it.”

  Adele Tyrala
Age 25
North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
A vegetarian for a whopping 18 years (and a vegan for 10 of them), Adele likes reading, singing, and girly chick flicks. Friends say that everything Adele does is "for other people and for animals and to improve the world" and that she is "the epitome of cuteness."
