Burberry is now most commonly known for being the front-runners of the “chav” revolution and for being the preferred dress of football hooligans and people who like to start fights. Yes, just like Silverlink trains and Sonia from EastEnders, Britain is embarrassed of Burberry. So just when you thought Burberry couldn’t sink any lower, it approached peta2 friends The Rakes in a desperate attempt to salvage its sullied name and asked the band to pose for its latest ad campaign. Of course, being the sophisticated, handsome and ethicallyminded young gentlemen that they are, The Rakes told Burberry to “Gerroutivit!” Why? The Rakes know that Burberry’s catwalks are laden with the pelts of tortured animals. On fur farms, animals are killed by poisoning, anal electrocution and gassing. These cruel methods are ineffective, and animals often “wake up” while they’re being skinned. Knowing this, The Rakes vegan frontman Alan Donohoe fired off a letter to Burberry condemning its use of fur and refusing to take part in Burberry’s upcoming ad campaign. Alan’s full letter can be read here.
Follow The Rakes’ lead and send Burberry a message telling the company to take real fur off its catwalks and racks permanently!
