Cosmetics
Compassionate party people with a taste for twilight have a right to be excited, as make-up this season is going glittery and glam rock. Check out the cranberry and purple tints of Urban Decay's Lip Gunks in Area 51 and Metropolitan (pictured) for some dark sparkle as the nights draw in, or better still, get creative with the lilac sheen of their Exhaust Eye Shadow (pictured, available from Direct Cosmetics). Looking for something more restrained? Then peruse the “Beauty Without Cruelty” range at the wonderful (and vegan) online emporium that is Bourgeois Boheme. Here you'll find concealers, blushers and various other beauty essentials (pictured) that are completely cruelty-free and won't break the bank.
Hair
Hair can suffer in the summer with sand, salt and sweat to contend with, but in the winter, a whole new set of destructive factors come into play. Wind, rain and central heating drain even the lushest locks of moisture and can make miserable mornings even worse, leaving you struggling wearily with a frizzy barnet – which is where Faith in Nature come to the rescue, with their really rather delicious-sounding (and of course animal-friendly) Organic Chocolate Shampoo (pictured). Follow it up with the luxurious Daniel Field First Aid Conditioner (pictured, both available from Honesty Cosmetics), and your hair will be back to its glossy self before too long (whatever the weather).

Skin
As with hair, cold winds and artificial heating can really knock the stuffing out of skin come winter. It's best, therefore, to make your purchases not just compassionate but moisturising, and perennial PETA favourite The Body Shop have just the kit you need. Strawberry Body Scrub (pictured) is our current favourite, bringing a scent of late summer to our chilly bathrooms, but check out Shea Butter and Papaya from the same range – all are as mouth-watering as their names suggest. For lovers of cosy nights in, the best thing has to be getting your feet soaked in a December downpour because then you can treat them to a cosy Body Shop Lemongrass Foot Soak (pictured)! Pampering paradise!

For Men
Yes, yes, we know – blokes like grooming too. And peta2 likes blokes who like grooming, obviously, because nothing is more off-putting to a curious carnivore than an unclean activist. So, what's out there for lads (or for the lad in your life)? We like the Origins range (especially the Skin Diver Active Charcoal Body Wash, pictured), but if that's a tad on the expensive side, there's always Simply Soap's range of veggie products – we love their Shaving Soap (pictured, available from Pure Skin Care), guaranteed to leave skin smooth enough for lots of kisses under the mistletoe!
