Remember when we released whistleblower reports stating that as many as 27 animals died during production of The Hobbit? Well, now another person is coming forward with the truth about how HBO and the American Humane Association (AHA) kept animal injuries and deaths on the show Luck and other productions quiet. And she has shocking photos to go with the story!

Former AHA employee Barbara Casey filed a wrongful termination lawsuit stating that she was terminated after she refused to follow her employer’s instructions to ignore animal safety standards in order to save time and money. Casey is now suing the AHA, HBO, and the show’s production company, Stewart Productions, alleging that they all allowed horses to be abused and attempted to cover it up. Casey’s lawsuit stated that the companies’ disregard for the animals led to the death of four horses. :(

Casey also describes several other incidents in which the AHA’s lack of concern for animal welfare led to terrible injures and even deaths. As I mentioned above, 27 animals were killed during the making of The Hobbit, but the AHA still slapped a familiar message at the end of the film: “American Humane monitored all of the significant animal action. No animals were harmed during such action.”

Seriously?! The photos appear to prove otherwise …

The only truly cruelty-free films are those in which no animals are used, period.

Speak up by sending a message to filmmakers letting them know that hurting and killing animals for any movie or show is wrong!
