Hometown: Oakland, California. Even though I live in Los Angeles now, the Bay Area will always be my home!
Favorite Bands: My musical taste is definitely pretty old-school. Some of my faves are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Neil Young. (I know, I know—it may sound a bit outdated, but I swear it's good stuff!). I've also been known to dabble in some more underground or "classic" hip-hop from time to time, like Atmosphere and Living Legends. And if it's raining out, don't be surprised if you hear me blasting some Black Sabbath.
About Me: Eating delicious vegan food is one of my passions. I firmly believe in the power of traveling to new places. (I just knocked Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos off my list last summer, and I still have a serious case of wanderlust.) I will always be an Oakland girl at heart. I have an adorable and very sassy companion bunny named Bandida. I'm obsessed with elephants and zombie movies. And I'm the happiest when I'm in nature.
I Love: Traveling, watching Quentin Tarantino movies, expanding my record collection, discovering new vegan restaurants, eating Vietnamese food, napping in the park, sleeping in a bed with freshly clean sheets, hanging out with puppies, helping my family and friends go vegan, dancing in the rain (the rain in general is the best!), hiking, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, and anything vintage.
I Dislike: Mean people, rude people, close-minded people, cruelty and violence toward animals and humans, huge crowds, confrontations, when it's too hot outside, being asked where I get my protein, traffic, "Top 40" music, and being home alone (to be honest, I still sleep with a nightlight on … don't judge!).
Why You Went Vegan: I went to a very alternative junior high school, and when I was in the sixth grade, my hippie English teacher showed my class a video about factory farming. I remember being shocked and angry that no one had ever showed me the reality of how we get our "meat" before, and that day I went home and declared to my parents that I was going vegetarian. I've always really loved pigs, and after seeing them being tortured inside of a slaughterhouse for the first time, I just knew immediately that I could never, ever support that again. Since the sixth grade (I have since finished junior high, high school, and college), I have learned more about the dairy industry and decided to transition from being a vegetarian to being a vegan. I am happy to report that since that day in junior high, I have helped my brother, his wife, and my mom all make the switch to a meat-free lifestyle!
