Toka, Thika, and Iringa—three elephants from the Toronto Zoo—have finally arrived at their new home at the gorgeous Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) sanctuary in sunny California. Two years ago, the Toronto City Council agreed that this sanctuary would be a much better home for these cuties (duh!), and now they’ve finally made it there, thanks to efforts by PETA, Zoocheck Canada, Bob Barker, and all you AWESOME peta2 Street Teamers who spoke up and demanded these elephants’ freedom!

They’ve traded their cramped zoo paddock for a true elephant paradise at PAWS sanctuary, which offers rolling grasslands, trees, lakes, meadows, a walnut orchard, three heated barns, and even a Jacuzzi!

TV icon and super-friend to animals Bob Barker not only paid for the elephants’ long trip to the sanctuary but also was there to greet them when they arrived. Oh, and are you ready for your warm and fuzzy moment of the day? Iringa loudly trumpeted as she was unloaded into the sanctuary, as if to announce her newfound freedom. :) Ain’t that just the sweetest?
