Mission: Help Bug, Docker, and Other Dogs Trapped at This Lab
Did you know that some companies and universities support experiments on dogs?
High Quality Research (HQR) in Fort Collins, Colorado, is a laboratory that imprisons more than 100 dogs in chain-link kennels nearly 24/7 and experiments on them for its clients. One of these dogs is Bug, a beagle who could just as easily have been your companion in another life. PETA’s investigator saw Bug express his frustration by constantly chewing at the chain-link door to the kennel. 😢 To make his cries quieter, the facility’s veterinarian put forceps down his throat and cut his vocal cords.
Our investigator also saw that Docker, another dog trapped at HQR, had a golf ball-sized mass on his neck that the veterinarian had apparently ignored for years. When the investigator asked to adopt Docker, workers said that Docker could never leave bc he was “assigned” to a client who “tend[s] to hang on to…animals forever.”
Bug and Docker are no different than dogs who share our homes—imagine if someone treated your companion like this.
