There are no federal laws requiring companies to test personal-care items such as face wash, nail polish, or lip gloss on animals, yet major corporations continue to do so at the expense of thousands of animals every year. Animals used in product tests—including mice, rats, and rabbits—are routinely kept in cages and given little to no veterinary care before being subjected to hideous tests in which harmful chemicals are rubbed into their eyes, burned into their skin, and pumped into their stomachs.
