Classroom dissections are often scheduled in various science courses throughout middle school, high school, and college. It’s important to know, though, that you don’t have to participate in the dissection of a dead animal!

Several states, including California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, New York, and more, offer you a choice when it comes to dissection. Torrey wishes she knew about saying no to dissection during her school days, and because of that, she’s here with us to teach you that you can say no!

Digital alternatives provide a more in-depth look and effective way to study an animal’s anatomy—without taking a life or ingesting the awful fumes involved in standard dissection (like breathing in formaldehyde—so gross!). And did we mention that no animals have to DIE in order for you to learn about them?

Speak up for yourself, cats, rats, frogs, and many more animals who are killed for classroom dissection. If alternatives aren’t offered at your school, approach your teacher or principal and explain how cruel dissection is and that there are alternatives available that are more effective, will save the school money, and will spare the lives of so many animals.
