One of the most powerful passages Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave the world is, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” That notion is applied every day at peta2, where we fight for all animals. Whether a horse, a fish, a cat, a dog, a frog, a rat, or a pigeon—all animals deserve to live a life free of unnecessary suffering and exploitation. peta2 is challenging you to speak up for animals whenever and however you can, and Anti-Flag wants to make sure that you’ve got everything you need to do it.
As one of the most respected punk bands of the past decade, Anti-Flag has made a career of standing up for what’s right and speaking out against oppression. Whether the cause is human rights or animal rights, you can count on Pittsburgh’s favorite politi-punks to fight back. Because they’re well versed in the ways of activism, vocalist Justin Sane and bassist Chris #2 wanted to share their own thoughts on what it means to be an activist—in your community, in the animal rights movement, and within yourself. Watch our video to hear their thoughts and pick up tips for getting active on your own.
No place is too small to start. If you don’t want chickens to be scalded to death or cows and pigs to have their throats slit while fully conscious, fight back against factory farming by leaving meat and other animal products off your plate. If your friends ask you about your meat-free meals, talk to them! Sometimes all it takes to change someone’s mind is the courage to talk about your convictions. So don’t be shy, and never be silent!
