Best Coast, the musical duo of Bobb Bruno and Bethany Cosentino, not only hail from the best coast (California, what’s up?!) but also look after the best cat—Bethany’s (now famous) adopted orange cat, Snacks!
If you ask Bethany (once called indie rock’s first-ever “crazy cat lady“) about Snacks, she’ll tell you that he’s one of the best and most important individuals in her life. “He really is my son,” she told us in our behind-the-scenes interview with her.
Of course, we HAD to try to get with Bethany and Snacks for an adoption ad—it only made sense. Then, one magical day, all the stars aligned—and voilà: We present to you Bethany and the most famous feline in indie rock, Snacks!
I always say adopt, because it just gives you this chance to give
an animal a life that [they] never would have had.
Every year, 6 to 8 million homeless dogs and cats enter animal shelters, and half of them are euthanized because there aren’t enough good homes for them. When you adopt an animal instead of buying one from a pet store or breeder, you save a life. Shelter animals are also spayed or neutered before you are able to bring them home—so you get to bring a happy, healthy fuzzball into your life and know that you’re doing your part to help control animal homelessness.
Bethany is clearly a loving and dedicated guardian to Snacks. A lot of responsibility comes with bringing an animal companion into your life—so do your research, and once you’re personally and financially ready, remember to adopt, and never shop!
