Since the release of Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch almost three years ago, Cute Is What We Aim For has been one of the most talked about bands in the scene. These guys are hard to ignore, seeing as they’ve been featured on the cover of Alternative Press, have played sold-out shows all over the world with everyone from Fall Out Boy to Simple Plan to Gym Class Heroes, and have kept fans on message boards talking with a constant stream of gossip.

This year, the boys of Cute Is What We Aim For hit the road along with Meg and Dia, Breathe Carolina, and a few others in support of a truly great cause as part of the Sub City Take Action Tour. In conjunction with Hopeless Records, the Take Action Tour will be donating 10 percent of each ticket purchased to the not-for-profit organization, whose goal is to raise funds for young people around the country to create positive change in their communities and in the world.

We recently caught up with bassist and new addition to the band Dave Melillo to chat about his choice to go vegetarian, his concerns about the environment, and, of course, his favorite tour mate, Sgt. Sebastian!

Dave attributes his passion for animal rights to his love of Goldfinger and John Feldmann’s commitment to the cause. Bands like Anti-Flag and Bane inspired me to learn more about what was going on in the world and find out ways that I could help. If you feel inspired to be a voice for animals, learn how to get active in your community and take our Pledge to Be Veg – you’ll save the lives of 100 animals a year!
