This month’s Flesh-Free Friday theme is BURGERS! I know you guys all ? a good burger (who doesn’t?), but it’s pretty heavy to think that someone had to die to end up as a hamburger. Luckily, the world is full of delicious burgers with no dead animal flesh inside.

This week I present to you: The Soyrizo Avocado Burger—a guaranteed zombie cure. I’ve gotta say, this was a pretty freakin’ terrific burger. I’m a one burger gal, and I almost ate two of these (almost). Enough fluff, let’s get cookin’ already!

Replace:

Mayo with Vegenaise

Eggs with Ener-G Egg Replacer

Ground beef with 1/2 package of soyrizo (I get mine from Trader Joe’s)

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 1/3 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/3 cup chopped red onions
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
  • 2 “eggs
  • 1 package burger buns
  • Enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of your pan

Toppings:

  • Sliced avocado
  • Sliced tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic salt
  • Vegenaise

Okay—let’s get started. You’ll want to add the celery, carrot, onion, avocado, bread crumbs, soyrizo, and “eggs” into a food processer. If you don’t have a food processer, you can just chop everything up as tiny as you can get it and stir everything together (the food processer is just the lazy man’s way to do it). Put enough vegetable oil in your pan to coat the bottom of the pan, and turn the burner on medium—this is important. If the heat setting is too high, the outside of your burger will burn too fast. Cook your burger until both sides are brown and crispy, remove, and blot with a paper towel to remove excess oil. Put some Vegenaise, salt, pepper, and garlic salt on the inside of your bun, throw the burger on there, and add avocado, tomato, lettuce, and onions. That’s it!
