Ah, finally some news that makes you WANT to head to school in the mornings!
Last month, the Los Angeles Unified School District implemented a Meatless Monday program in its schools in an effort to provide more healthful and less environmentally destructive food choices in its cafeterias, making L.A. the third (and biggest) city to join the movement. 😀
- Cruel to animals
- Packed with cholesterol
- Full of saturated fat
- Linked to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer
- Tied to obesity
The good news is that you don’t have to live in a big city like Los Angeles to get more vegan options at your school! All you have to do is ask. Seriously, that’s it.
Sometimes schools just need to know that there’s a demand for something in order to give it a shot. Try talking to your principal or lunchroom staff about it (we even have a prewritten letter that you can present to them!). If that doesn’t do it, don’t worry—we have you covered! Check out our Veggie Burger Project to make sure that your vegan cafeteria dreams come true! 😉
ALL students deserve humane and healthful options in their cafeteria—so get out there and make it happen! 😀
