When we first met Circa Survive’s vegetarian guitarist Colin Frangicetto, the band had just released its debut album. Now, just a few short years later, Circa Survive has three critically acclaimed albums under its belt, a highly devoted fan base, and a brand-new peta2 PSA reminding fans to adopt a homeless animal if they’re in the market for a new friend.
Four million—that’s the estimated number of cats and dogs euthanized in animal shelters every year in the U.S. alone. Animal shelters coast to coast are overwhelmed with animals who have been surrendered by people who can’t afford to keep them or simply no longer want them. Why would anyone choose to spend thousands of dollars at a mall pet store or buy from a breeder when so many perfectly lovable animals are in need of good homes? The best thing that you can do to help combat the cat and dog overpopulation crisis is to always spay and neuter your animal companions and open your home to an animal in a shelter. Pretty simple, right? In case you need more convincing, check out what Colin had to say about his two adopted cats—including Jake, a very special little guy who would have been euthanized if Colin hadn’t have come to his rescue.
