The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has drafted a black bear management plan that, if passed, would allow hunters to gun down bears along the coast.

Not only are they cruel, but lethal methods of population control don’t work. As long as areas remain attractive and accessible for them, more bears will simply move in to fill voids created when others are killed. South Carolina residents can reduce the number of human-bear encounters by containing garbage in bear-proof cans and implementing other simple and humane deterrents. Once the trash is gone, the bears will move on!

Urge the DNR to stop this cruel and senseless proposed bear hunt in its tracks, and forward this alert far and wide! Send polite comments to Public Information Officer Amanda Stroud at [email protected].
