Every time you scroll through your Insta feed, you’re bound to come across pics of gorgeous nails that are seriously impressive. ? Unfortunately, not all nail polishes are equal. Some companies–like OPI and Sally Hansen–still pay for cruel tests on animals so that they can sell their products in China, where animal testing for certain products is required.

These tests involve dripping substances into their eyes, smearing them onto their shaved or scraped skin, or forcing them to ingest or inhale huge quantities of chemicals. After, the animals are usually killed! ?

Luckily, having cute nails without harming animals is easier than ever. Tons of compassionate brands refuse to sell their products in China until the Chinese government ends it animal testing requirement. Just look for these cruelty-free,  PETA-approved brands, which are available at most stores that carry nail polish:
