We’re on tour with Melrose Avenue, and the band has a huge PSA for all the fans out there: Adopt animals, don’t buy them! 🐾

Vlado, Jed, Mitchell, and Shawn are devoted to their companion animals (as you can tell from the vid). They give their animals the loving homes they deserve—and if you’re thinking about bringing a new companion into your home, follow the band’s advice and adopt them from a reputable animal shelter. DON’T buy them from a “pet” store or breeder. 🙅

Millions of dogs and cats enter animal shelters every year, and they miss out on getting a family every time someone buys an animal. The “pet” store or breeder will make a profit while having another animal bred into the world. And take it from Melrose Avenue—you don’t want “pet” stores that sell live animals getting your $$$. They keep birds, reptiles, and fish in tiny tanks and cages and sell them to humans who have no clue how to care for them.

Here’s the good news: When you adopt an animal like Vlado, Jed, Mitchell, and Shawn did, you won’t cause others to be mass-produced as if they were toys. If you have the time, resources, and energy to care for an animal, adoption is always the best option.
