peta2 x Alyk: Adopt, Spay, and Neuter

We met rock singer Alyk at Warped Tour Orlando, and she joined us to hype the importance of helping companion animals—with a big assist from her cat, Wybie. 🐾

alyk + wybie tip #1: adopt, don’t shop!

Wybie is an adopted cat, which means Alyk didn’t buy him from a “pet” store or breeder. These places have a new animal bred for each one they sell, which drives the homeless animal population up. ⬆️ Reputable shelters take in animals who would otherwise suffer on the streets and don’t have more animals bred, which drives the homeless animal population down. ⬇️ Easy choice, right?

alyk + wybie tip #2: spay/neuter

Alyk also made sure to get Wybie neutered, which is a super safe procedure that helps prevent the birth of even more animals. Getting your animals spayed and neutered can even help them avoid suffering from reproductive cancers. 💕 Another easy choice.

alyk + wybie tip #3: be a loving guardian

It’s up to us to give our companions a good life, and Alyk sets a great example with the way she treats Wybie. She takes him to the vet every year. She gives him enrichment toys. She lets him be part of things, from standing guard while she eats to chilling in the studio while she writes music. Our companions’ health and happiness are in our hands, so we should always treat them as valued family members.
