Mission: Let Your Former Teachers Know How Dissection Made You Feel
If a former teacher told you to dissect an animal for a grade, you and animals deserved better. 😞 Help make sure students can get the humane lessons they want!

Did your teacher ever mention that millions of animals are killed specifically for dissection? Or that someone’s lost cat might end up on their dissection tray? 😨 How about that there are humane dissection lessons that can teach you more than cutting a corpse ever could? If it’s a “no” all around, we feel you.
A lot of teachers keep assigning cruel animal dissection lessons bc it’s the way they were taught. They need to know the truth: There are SO many kind ways to teach anatomy, and there are SO many students who want these lessons vs dissecting dead frogs, cats, or rats.

As long as you’re polite, your old teachers would love to know that there’s a better way to reach students. Contact them via the steps below to earn 150 peta2 points from our Rewards Program:
1. Send a polite email to your former middle or high school teacher saying that: a) you wish you had been offered humane dissection options, and b) they should consider offering them to students now. You can use our template for ideas, but your own words are most effective:
Dear [Teacher’s Name],
I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been reflecting on my time in your class and wanted to share something that’s been on my mind. Looking back, I wish I had been offered a humane option instead of dissecting a dead animal. At the time, I didn’t realize that these resources existed, but now I know that many schools provide virtual or model-based methods that offer a better understanding of anatomy.
I would love it if students had the choice to use humane alternatives. Like me, so many students care deeply about animals and don’t want to prop up the dissection industry, which kills animals specifically for dissection. It would mean the world to me if I could help create a more inclusive classroom and save animals from being harmed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
Warm regards,
[Your Name]
