Mission: Share “My First Lab Animal” to Give Everyone a Wake-Up Call
What we learn in our tweens, teens, and early twenties sticks with us for the rest of our lives. So, it’s prob not a good idea for the gov to teach everyone that it’s okay to torture animals. 😨 Share PETA’s “My First Lab Animal” ad to make this clear to everyone!
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the main U.S. gov agency in charge of medical research. That’s a huge role, so it’s infuriating that the agency has funded countless experiments torturing mice, monkeys, dogs, and other animals. What kind of example does this set for young people?
PETA’s spoof ad has the answer. It shows a kid happily using her new “My First Lab Animal” toy to force a fake mouse into a tank of water, inject it, and electroshock it (all things that happen to real mice in NIH-funded experiments, btw). As a cheerful jingle plays, the kid learns to torment an animal within an inch of their life. 😳

A real toy like this would be beyond messed up, but that’s the point. The NIH wants young people to think that its cruel experiments are no big deal even though they harm, terrify, and kill sentient beings and don’t lead to treatments for humans. 😡 “My First Lab Animal” is the wake-up call folks need to realize that experimenting on animals is dangerous for everyone.
