peta2’s Youth Advisory Board is Changing the World for Animals
Want to change the world for animals, learn how to be an effective advocate, and make peta2 even better? The peta2 Youth Advisory Board is for you! We’re looking for dedicated, passionate, and outgoing activists to lead the movement and weigh in on things like campaigns, sticker designs, merchandise, and more—and help us create content that will reach other young people on social media and beyond.
what are the requirements?
To be considered, you must be between the ages of 13 and 24, be interested in animal rights, attend school, and live in the U.S. or Canada. You must also complete the application and be accepted. Advisers must commit to the board for the school year. We’ll have regular meetings that you’ll need to attend twice per semester, and you’ll need to respond to questions when we ask for feedback.
what will you be expected to do?
As a Youth Advisory Board member, you’ll be armed with skills and resources so that you can be a great advocate for animals and provide peta2 with valuable feedback on ideas we have for missions, campaigns, projects, and merchandise. We’ll send you our ideas, and you’ll give us your honest opinion of them. Your opinions will help make our work for animal rights more effective and make it easier than ever for your friends to get in on the movement, too.
what will you get?
Advisers will gain experience with the biggest animal rights group in the world. By serving on the board, you’ll not only establish friendships, learn from your peers and be among the first to know about peta2 campaigns. You’ll also get access to free exclusive merchandise, and you can list your experiences on college applications, résumés, and job applications!

who are the current youth advisory board members?
tomer
My name is Tomer and I’m from Calabasas, California. I’m the Co-President of peta2 LA County and got into animal activism after watching a PETA video about the cow meat industry. I’m so excited to join the board and see what we are able to accomplish this year!

noelle
My name is Noelle, I’m the other president of peta2 LA County. I stopped eating meat in elementary school after adopting my rescue puppy, and have been an animal rights activist ever since. With PETA, I’ve loved organizing activism events, connecting with people about animal rights, and sharing veganism with the world. I am so excited to continue fighting for animals on this board!

tabby
Hi, I’m Tabby. [My mom is] the reason I joined PETA, she introduced me to the organization after we got into a fight with a shady bird “rescue” back in 2022. I went fully vegan after May 2023, when I graduated. I’m an animal sanctuary founder, along with an artist, character designer, YouTuber, and gamer. I basically multitask with online talents.

zach
I’m Zach, a youth activist from Ithaca, NY! I’ve loved animals and wildlife for as long as I can remember, working as a bird naturalist and restoring wildlife habitat for endangered species. I’m passionate about animal rights, going vegetarian last year and being vegan for the last month…I am excited to work with all of you for animals and our future!

megan
My name is Megan, and I’m from the Bay Area of California. I went vegetarian over quarantine because I never felt comfortable eating meat, and being at home made it easier to make that transition. I went vegan two years ago after watching Dominion, Land of Hope and Glory, and Cowspiracy, learning the truth about what goes on in the industry. I love musical theater, cross country, and baking.

adriana
I’m Adriana from Long Island, NY. I’ve been passionate about animal rights since discovering PETA at too young an age, becoming a vegetarian at age 9. I’m excited to advocate with you all!

allison
My name is Allison, and I’m from Vancouver, BC. I’ve advocated for animal rights all of my life. I was particularly moved after discovering the truth about animal testing a couple of years ago. I’m thrilled to be able to work with you all!

magnolia
My name is Magnolia…There are many things that need to change in animal exploitation, and I hope to inspire others to look further into these issues by valuing animals in all ways—no matter what species they are. There is something I used to recall back on that goes a little something like: “We are the voices of the voiceless.” For me, I think this stuck over the years because it shows the power we have as individuals to stand up in the face of injustice. Collectively, our actions matter. We are all connected in the grand scheme of things.

jordan
I’m Jordan! I’m from Minnesota, USA! I went vegan 3 and a half years ago, overnight, realizing what I was contributing to: animal abuse and exploitation. I was their oppressor in their past, so it was on me to fight for them. I use social media to fight for animals.

livia
I’m Livia! I’m from the Bay Area, California, and I’ve been vegan for a year and a half after researching the impacts on animals and the environment. I’m passionate about transforming the food system through effective communication and strategic planning.

astrid
I’m Astrid! I help run an animal sanctuary with my mom. We take in mainly cats and chickens, but we do have a couple of goat, goose, and duck residents as well. We also focus on taking in disabled animals. I’ve always been interested in animal rights because my mom and I have always worked on rescuing any animals that we could. When I was 11, I began volunteering at a local farmed animal sanctuary…I had been a vegetarian since I was 7 years old, but I became vegan soon after learning details of the egg and dairy industries. Since then, I’ve tried to learn as much as I can about animal rights, and I’m so excited to work with you all!

sambhav
I’m Sambhav from Chicago, Illinois, and I am very passionate to be working with all of you and protecting the lives of animals. I was first inspired to help animals after hearing about roadside zoos, otherwise known as cruel environments where animals are abused. I created a petition to ban roadside zoos because of this! I hope to protect animals and their rights with the help of all of you!

kaleigh
My name is Kaleigh, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a senior at UMass Boston studying political science with a minor in wealth, poverty, and opportunity! I am passionate about many causes, such as immigrant justice and criminal justice reform, and obviously, being vegan and animal welfare as well! I have been vegan for over 4 years now (and was previously vegetarian for 3 or 4 years) and care deeply about advocating for animals and exposing the cruelty of speciesism. Excited to get to know you all and collaborate!

troy
I’m Troy from St. Louis, Missouri. I went vegetarian over 2 years ago and vegan over 1 year ago. Since then, I’ve found a great passion for activism and fighting for non-human animals’ rights. I’m an active member in my local community and wanted to share a recent photo of me at a protest against slaughterhouses! I’m thrilled to be able to participate in the youth advisory board and wish to make an impactful, positive change!

lilliana
I’m Lilliana! My pronouns are she/her. I am a junior in high school and live in Iowa City, Iowa, and I volunteer at Iowa Farm Sanctuary. I have been vegan for almost two years, and was vegetarian for about three years prior to going vegan! I am very passionate about animal and human rights…I am so excited to participate in the Youth Advisory Board and to get to know everyone!

tristan
I’m Tristan from Seattle, WA. I’ve been vegan for almost 4 years (veganversery coming up in a few weeks!!) and I was vegetarian for years before that. I did an education and hands-on program at an animal sanctuary last year, and overall, I have just been advocating for animals on social media for a few years now.

rowan
I’m Rowan. I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I became vegan after my dog passed away about a year ago. The only thing that gave me comfort was knowing I gave her the best life I possibly could, and I wished that for all animals. That’s when I made the connection that I was eating dead animals every day, and after one search on how animals end up on our plate, I never [ate animals] again… I think education and awareness are the most important, and I can’t wait to collaborate with all of you to further animal liberation!

kaycie
My name is Kaycie, and I’m from Gettysburg, PA! I’ve been vegan for 7 years and love volunteering at my local cat shelter and farm animal sanctuaries! I began my journey in animal activism when I realized I disagreed with a lot of what I was brought up with in my family (and culture as a whole!), like hunting, eating animals, etc. as I always had a lot of empathy for animals. I also learned how being vegan is beneficial to the environment and more sustainable for long-term health…I am looking to expand my activism beyond the volunteer work I do, and I’m hoping that I can achieve that as a youth advisory board member.

harper
My name is Harper, and in my picture is Onion. Onion officially brought me into animal advocacy when I worked to release her from the FFA system last year. If you are unfamiliar, FFA teaches students to raise animals for agriculture, most often slaughtering them in the end. I struggled and worked in secret to save her. LEAP, Austin Farm Sanctuary, and peta2 helped me release her! Since then, I have helped educate my peers, won PETA’s Compassion in Action Award, won the ProAnimalAwards grant, and joined the first-ever LEAP Youth Advisory Council. I am thrilled to join this group as well, and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

gavin
My name is Gavin (he/him) and I’m from Los Angeles, California. I was originally inspired to join the animal rights movement by my friends Noelle and Tomer, who are also on this youth council. Inspired by their dedication and empathy with animals, I now serve as the Co-Vice President and Director of Sustainability of peta2 LA County. I am very passionate about environmental policy, sustainable food systems, animal rights, and creative education. I am excited to be a member on this council and look forward to working with everyone!

aryn
My name is Aryn, and I’m from Virginia Beach, VA. I’ve actually been a vegan my whole life, thanks to my mom, who works in PETA’s accounting department! I’ve gotten more into animal activism from being asked the same question my whole life: “How are you still alive? Meat gives you protein.” I never knew how to answer this question until I became more informed on animal cruelty and abuse. I’ve seen animal abuse firsthand because of my mom, and this gave me my passion for fighting for animal rights and staying informed to silence the haters! I am so excited to be a part of this and can’t wait to learn more about fighting back!

Applications for the fall semester are closed but spring semester recruitment will begin this December, so be sure to check back then!
