Sexism Isn’t Just a Human Thing—Female Animals Suffer, Too

On farms around the world, female animals are violated, manipulated, and killed for profit. 🤬 Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening and how to stand up against this oppression:

Dairy Farm Hell

Cows are top-tier moms who carry their babies for nine months and nurse them like humans. But the dairy industry tears their calves away, sometimes within 24 hours of birth. This often leads them to cry out for days—because ofc, who wouldn’t be traumatized by this? 😢 If the calves are female, they’ll enter the same cycle of misery as their moms: Being confined, abused for their milk, and slaughtered.

Forcible Manual Impregnation

There’s another part of this cruel cycle that targets females—forcible manual impregnation. Cows only produce milk when they’re pregnant or nursing, so dairy farm workers restrain them in a device and forcibly manually impregnate them with a bull’s sperm. The strain of being pregnant and having their milk stolen constantly often leaves cows thin and worn out with infected teats.

Egg-Laying Machines

The egg industry treats hens like machines. Workers use light and food to mess with their reproductive systems and force them to lay as many as 300 eggs per year. 😨 This causes hella health problems like cysts, infections, tumors, shattered bones, and getting eggs stuck inside them. Their female babies will be forced to follow in their footsteps until their egg production slows and they’re sent to the slaughterhouse.

Bloodied for Bacon

Female pigs used for food like bacon are forcibly manually impregnated for years on end. For a couple of weeks before and after they give birth, they’re kept in tiny crates and are separated from their piglets by bars (how evil can you get?). If you’ve noticed the trend, female piglets will also be forced to suffer like their moms before being violently killed.

Foie Gras Slaughter

Foie gras (aka fatty liver) is made from the livers of male ducks. That means all female ducklings—40 million annually in France alone—are considered useless to the industry. They’re tossed into grinders while still alive so that their bodies can be processed into fertilizer or cat food.

Once you know how animal agriculture treats female animals like objects, the idea of marketing a dairy industry event as empowering to women is straight-up laughable. Help ensure this event has happened for the last time.
