Savory Pumpkin-Bacon Cheese Ball



Prep time




  • 1 pkg. vegan cream cheese, softened

  • 1/2 cup cheddar-style vegan shredded cheese

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin purée

  • 3/4 cup roasted pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds)

  • 6 slices tempeh bacon, cooked and chopped into small pieces

  • 1 cup thinly diced scallions

  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper


  • In a large bowl, combine the vegan cream cheese, vegan shredded cheese, pumpkin purée, ½ cupful of the pepitas, 5 slices’ worth of the tempeh bacon, ¾ cup of the scallions, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. If desired, season with additional salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Chill for 30 minutes, then shape into a ball. Roll in the remaining pepitas, tempeh bacon, and scallions.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to eat. Serve with crackers.
