Empty the Tanks: Help Save Dolphins From Marine Park Misery!

Birds belong in the sky. Cows belong on the ground. Dolphins belong in the ocean: But some greedy humans make marine parks, resorts, and shady aquariums their prisons instead!

Imagine being locked in a tiny room with randos for your entire life. That anxiety you just felt is dolphins’ reality. In nature, they can swim up to 60 miles in a single day and explore the open ocean with their family groups, called pods. But dolphins imprisoned at places like Discovery Cove, Theater of the Sea, and Sea Life Park spend their days swimming in endless circles, often with social groups they didn’t choose and don’t get along with.

Hundreds of dolphins have died at marine parks, many long before they would have in nature. One dolphin at Dolphin Quest Hawaii died the same day he was born from aspiration pneumonia and being rejected by his mom (who was also imprisoned), and a dolphin named Jag died from drowning at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) & Ocean Adventures. 💔

When given the chance, dolphins form close relationships and choose their own mates. This is NOT what happens in marine parks like SeaWorld and Discovery Cove. Male dolphins are masturbated for their semen, and females are restrained and sometimes drugged so they can’t fight back while a staff member shoves a tube filled with semen into their uteruses. 😨 How the actual f is this allowed???

Some places offer “swim with dolphins” experiences, and, just like in the breeding situation, dolphins don’t choose to participate. They’re forced to have humans touch or ride them, and some dolphins have bitten humans during interactions. Many nasty illnesses can also be passed from dolphins to human visitors.

It’s time to empty the tanks. ⛓️‍💥 🌊 Please, never visit any facility that exploits dolphins for entertainment, and urge Discovery Cove, Sea Life Park Hawaii, and other marine parks to send dolphins to sanctuaries in their ocean homes!
