ONE Call Can Save Chimpanzees!

Chimpanzees are extremely social, intelligent individuals who have rich mental and emotional lives, care deeply for their families and friends, and grieve the loss of their loved ones when they pass away. Despite international criticism, the U.S. remains the only nation in the industrialized world that continues to conduct invasive experiments on chimpanzees.

More than 1,000 chimpanzees are imprisoned in barren cells in U.S. laboratories, where they have been intentionally infected with diseases such as HIV and hepatitis—even though scientists agree that chimpanzees are poor models for researching human diseases. They are forced to endure decades of fear, loneliness, and pain.

Please call 202-224-3121 and urge your legislator to support or cosponsor the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act, which would permanently end the use of great apes in invasive experiments and retire more than 500 chimpanzees to sanctuaries. Just ask to be connected to your legislator’s office when you call:

  • In California, ask for Sen. Barbara Boxer.
  • In Maryland, ask for Sen. Benjamin Cardin.
  • In Oklahoma, ask for Sen. James Inhofe.
  • In Alabama, ask for Sen. Jefferson Sessions.
  • In Nevada, ask for Sen. Harry Reid.
  • In Kentucky, ask for Sen. Mitch McConnell.
  • In Illinois, ask for Sen. Richard Durbin.
  • In Arizona, ask for Sen. Jon Kyl.
