The Most Vegan-Friendly Colleges

The fall semester is in full swing, and high-school seniors across America are narrowing down...
Hometown: Northern Virginia (believe me—there is a difference between the North and South)
Fave bands: Radiohead, Against Me!, The Beatles, Muse, Fiona Apple, Rage Against the Machine, Weezer, Blue Man Group, Propagandhi, Simon and Garfunkel, Rise Against, NOFX, The Clash, Nellie McKay, Anti-Flag, Regina Spektor, Hellogoodbye, Green Day, Coldplay, Alkaline Trio, Death Cab for Cutie, The Doors, Jimmy Eat World, Rilo Kiley, Bjork, Moby, The Mars Volta, Rooney, Silverchair, System of a Down, The Postal Service, Prodigy, OK Go, Tenacious D, The Hives, Ben Folds, Millencolin, Bad Religion, Fountains of Wayne, Blur, The Sex Pistols, Queen, Rufus Wainwright, Phantom Planet, Phish, The Living End, Pearl Jam, The Shins, Goldfinger, The White Stripes, The Strokes, AFI, Ani Difranco, etc.
I like: Politics, animal rights, human rights, traveling around the world, détournement, live music, board games, potluck dinners, walking everywhere, soy chai tea, intelligent conversation, listening to NPR, veganism, The Onion, backpacking, and college activists!
I hate: Seaweed, gum, shaving, pits/seeds, and hotels without wireless Internet
Why you went veg: While on a cross-country trip, I drove through the Amarillo, Texas, region (a.k.a. slaughterhouse row). The images (and smells!) stuck with me, and I told myself I was never going to pay for people to abuse animals again.
What’s the longest you’ve gone without changing your clothes? About four weeks, but it was on Warped Tour, where everyone stinks, so nobody noticed.
Do you, by chance, have a bizarre infatuation with maps? Funny you should ask, because as a matter of fact, I do! I use maps to track everything, from my travels to outlining all the student groups we work with across the country. Next time you're in my neighborhood, stop by, and I'll show you my map wall (and yes, I have a map wall).
What’s your favorite hobby? I enjoy going into Taco Bell and placing needlessly confusing orders to create amazing new vegan dishes. For example, try a “Beef & Potato” burrito, substitute beans for beef, say “Fresco Style it” (it removes sour cream and replaces it with salsa; they know what it means), add guacamole, add crunchy red strips (new item!), and grill it. You can thank me later.
