It’s the beginning of May, and you know what that means, right? It’s almost Mother’s Day! Deciding what to get for the mom in your life is easy with PETA Presents (no home ec gift this year!) but what about all of the other moms?
Whether you know it or not, the choices you make every day mean a whole lot to moms who aren’t your own. On dairy factory farms, female cows are forcibly impregnated on things called “rape racks” and have their babies ripped from them soon after birth (and after carrying the baby for 9 months—just like a woman!). Can you imagine how traumatic that is? If you can’t, I bet your mom could tell you just how painful that might be.
Not convinced? At a sanctuary in Michigan named Sasha Farm, a calf named Mr. Rogers was separated for a short time from his mom, Bella, in order to be taken to a vet. Bella was inconsolable while he was gone, and when he arrived back … well, watch this cuteness for yourself!
This Mother’s Day, remember the millions of moms suffering on dairy factory farms right now. Don’t drink milk, make your mom vegan cupcakes, and pass this info on!
