Dogs are disappearing from people’s yards and cars, and dognappers are likely to blame.
Reports of abductions are up a whopping 32 percent from last year. People sometimes kidnap animals in order to collect reward money or, worse, to use them in dogfights, to sell them to laboratories for experiments, or even to torture and kill them for pleasure or in rituals. We’ve seen and heard it all.
We can make sure dognappers never have a chance to get their hands on our dogs and cats by never letting them out of our sight when they are outdoors, even for a minute. This will also ensure that they’re safe from other hazards that lurk outdoors, such as traffic, poison, cruel people, aggressive animals, and more.
It’s also critical to make sure that your animal companions can be identified easily, in case they should become lost. Have them microchipped and make sure that they wear collars with up-to-date identification tags bearing your cell phone number, just in case.

This is outrageous! Are there any laws against this? Like for theft or anything? I let my kitty out so he can get some fresh air because my mom smokes 2 packs of cigarettes a day. I am always afraid that he will get snatched up because he is so friendly and adorable. But he followed me home one night when I was walking with my other kitty but he grew a liking to me and we just got along so well. I love my kitty so much <3

I had my cat microchipped but she still didn’t return one day after being the love of my life for 2 years. No one has found her, I hope she did not end up in a laboratory or with some cruel person.
It’s been a year but she is being greatly missed!

My late cat was eaten by a coyote, and now I NEVER let my cat Carrie out by herself! I have a cat harness and leash for her and take her out for “walks” in the backyard every morning

THAT IS TERRIBAL!!!! Sometimes my dad will let my dogs out and close the door and come back in five minutes. Not gonna happen anymore!

That is just horrible. It worries me that people might be doing that to all of the poor little puppies that go missing in my neighborhood. It makes me sad :’(
