Over the past week, news outlets across the country have been covering the story of 6 people and a dog who are believed to have been murdered over an X-Box. We received word from Street Teamer Jonathan Gleason’s mother that he was among the 6 human victims. Obviously this has made the mood around the PETA office a little somber.
We feel that we should honor this amazing young man for the positive things he accomplished in his time on this planet, in order to cast some positive light on this tragedy. Jonathan dedicated his life to making the world a better place for all animals, so in his memory, PETA2 is sending a call to action to all our Street Team members around the world, asking you to make Monday, August 16, an international day of action in JonathanÌs name.
Whether you download some leaflets and head out to your local KFC, post peta2.com Web banners all over the Internet to spread the word, organize a showing of “Meet Your Meat” for your family and friends, or write a letter to the editor about the link between violence to animals and violence to humans, please take some time to continue the work of one of our most dedicated Street Teamers. Mark your actions “Jonathon Gleason action” when you submit them for points on August 16, and weÌll give you double the usual number of points.

The Alternative Press picked up the scoop on Juliette Lewis and the Licks’ letter to KFC and even linked to PETA2′s feature. Check out the AP article here.
Krystal Guerra, known as “cubanveganhippie” on the boards, is the latest Street Teamer to get a letter to the editor published. You can read her letter by clicking here. Good job Krystal.
