The Wonderful World of Seitan

If you’re vegan, thinking about becoming vegan, or simply love exploring new and healthy meat alternatives, you’ve got to get yourself acquainted with seitan (pronounced “say-tahn” or “say-tan”) aka wheat gluten.

In the beautiful scope of faux meats, we have tofu, tempeh, texturized vegetable protein (TVP) and seitan (my fave—it’s high in protein, low in fat, and tastes delicioso). You can grill it, fry it, barbecue it, kabob it up, slap it on a sankie (with some mustard, pickles, and veggies) … the possibilities are endless.

You can buy it pre-made and seasoned (usually found in health food stores), or you can make it from scratch (it’s cheap). Either way, it’s life changing and I highly recommend you give it a try!

How do you like your seitan?

Just keepin’ it real,

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
