Laura of The Secret Sisters Goes Veg

Posted by  peta2 staff

Here at peta2, music and animal rights go hand in hand. We’re on the case 24/7 to bring you the latest haps from animal-loving bands across all spectrums of music—and unfortunately, that often leaves us high and dry in the country music genre. Until now! Meet Laura Rogers, half of the traditional-yet-delightful country music duo The Secret Sisters. She might be from a small town in Alabama, but she has big thoughts on what it means to be vegetarian.

The switch to eating a plant-based diet is often a personal journey. A lifelong vegetable lover, Laura says that for her, the switch to full-time vegetarian eating has been fully welcomed. She feels awesome, looks great, is saving more than 100 animals every year, and sees no reason to look back. According to the American Dietetic Association, vegetarians are less prone to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity than meat-eaters are. With so many delicious meat-free options out there, there’s no reason not to give plant-based meals a try!

If you’re looking to kick-start a healthier lifestyle, choosing meat-free meals is the best way to go. You’ll become more conscious about the state of the food system and discover delicious new foods no matter where you live. If you’re from a small town that’s less hip to our awesome veggie ways, never fear! Check out our What to Eat guide and vegetarian/vegan starter kit to learn more. Happy veggie eating!
