So f*cked up!
For those who think that pop punk is as American as vegan apple pie, I bring you You Me At Six. The UK’s answer to Fall Out Boy, You Me At Six has sold out venues, shared the stage with Paramore, and survived a summer on Vans Warped Tour—all with only two full-length releases under their belt. To top it off, they have an undeniable soft spot for animals and have partnered with peta2 to tell you all about it.
We first met up with the fine young men of You Me At Six while on Vans Warped Tour promoting the “Elephants Never Forget” campaign. Guitarist Max Helyer and bassist Matt Barnes voiced their concern about animals who are abused in entertainment by signing the peta2 pledge never to attend any circus that uses animals, and from that moment on, I knew it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
This time around, the guys tackle an issue that is closer to their hearts—animal adoption. Every year, 6 to 8 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters, and half of them must be euthanized because there aren’t enough good homes for them. Buying an animal from a pet store or breeder robs a homeless animal of his or her chance at finding a loving home. The next time that you or someone you know is thinking about getting an animal, please remember to adopt and never buy.
Check out what lead singer Josh Franceschi and drummer Dan Flint of You Me At Six had to say about adoption, the fur industry, and why they chose to get involved with peta2!
