See How These Teens Raised $1,500 to Help Animals in Shelters

Kendall has had a deep passion for helping animals from a young age and decided to team up with her friends to raise money for three local shelters. What a clutch choice. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø Millions of cats and dogs who might have been homeless, lost, stray, or abandoned enter U.S. shelters every single year. These shelters provide them with the safety, comfort, and care they need and help them find their forever homes.

As Kendall learned from this experience, shelters depend completely on us for support. Donating to an open-admissions shelter (one that doesn’t turn away any animals) helps keep it running, so it’s one of the most direct ways you can make an impact.

The best thing we can do for these animals is provide them comfort and love. —Kendall

So, how did Kendall and her friends pull it off? They started by selling candy bars and donating the proceeds to the shelters, then launched a GoFundMe that raised $650. Once they had their plan, they quickly saw just how many people cared. Donations, shares, and encouragement from their community came pouring in.

Their success story is mega-inspirational, but you don’t have to raise $1,500 to make a difference. Even donating a few dollars, volunteering a few hours, or letting others know about the importance of spaying, neutering, and adopting can improve animals’ lives. Once you start, there’s no stopping you. šŸ’Ŗ Nothing feels better than taking action for animals.

My advice to other students who want to help animals is: Do it! —Kendall

For their dedication to helping animals in shelters, peta2 is presenting Kendall Passinger, Ava Hallberg, Sydney Mineo, Bailee McCray, and Kingston Jackson with our Compassionate Action Award!

The students want to thank their family, friends, and everyone who donated and supported them, as well as the shelters for all they do for these animals. They’re also planning to run a toy-and-treat drive at their high school in February, and Kendall is planning to become a veterinarian to help even more animals. Massive shout-out to this compassionate squad: Thank you for being someone animals can rely on. 🫶
