Mission: Top Five Reasons to Ditch Animal Skin—Spread the Word

Wearing someone’s dead skin is cruel, creepy, and just plain gross. 🤢 If you aren’t turned off yet, check out our top five reasons NOT to wear animal skin clothing and accessories:

1. It’s toxic

Companies use toxic chemicals to keep animal skin from rotting, which pollutes the soil and water near tanneries.

2. It’s someone’s skin

Ripping someone’s skin off and wearing it is giving horror movie. Plus, most of the world’s animal skin comes from China, where dog and cat skin products are mislabeled and shipped to other parts of the world. 😱

3. It’s inhumane

You wouldn’t want to be beaten, have chili peppers or tobacco rubbed into your eyes, and have your throat slit before being skinned, right? Neither do cows.

4. It supports the meat and dairy industries

Animal skin isn’t a “byproduct” of the meat and dairy industries—it’s a coproduct. These industries make bank selling the skins of slaughtered animals.

5. It’s easy to find vegan options

Countless brands make gorg bags, jackets, shoes, and other items from vegan materials. There’s no reason at all to harm animals for clothing or accessories. 🙅
