Mission: Bloodied Beagles, Infected Monkeys Exposed at U.S.-Sanctioned Lab in India
Update (June 26, 2025): After PETA India’s whistleblower-led exposé dropped, government-appointed inspectors in India investigated Palamur Biosciences and confirmed widespread animal abuse. They documented more than 1,200 animals crammed into filthy enclosures, suffering from untreated injuries and chronic neglect. The official report urgently recommended that all animals be removed and rehabilitated.
Police in India have also opened a criminal investigation into Palamur for apparently violating animal welfare laws. This is the first-ever criminal investigation into an animal experimentation laboratory in that country. But Palamur still holds a Public Health Service Assurance, which allows the laboratory to serve as a “performance site” for companies that want to submit animal testing data to U.S. agencies. PETA is calling on the National Institutes of Health to immediately revoke it.
Take action below to help us shut down Palamur Biosciences!
Original post:
At this laboratory in India, bloodied beagles lie on the floor, minipigs are poisoned, and rhesus macaques are killed. 😰
PETA India has exposed the cruelty behind the closed doors of Palamur Biosciences, a major government-registered laboratory and beagle breeder that experiments on animals, including for clients in the U.S.
Pics and vids that PETA India got from whistleblowers show dogs suffering wounds and abscesses, pigs with bloody mouths, terrified monkeys, and neglectful staff. The following are just some of the many horrors reported by the whistleblowers and exposed by PETA India:
- Palamur apparently got illegally wild-caught rhesus macaques from a supplier. Some tested positive for dangerous pathogens, but the company kept quiet and just killed the monkeys.
- Dogs in some experiments suffered “like hell” with untreated and open, painful wounds, a whistleblower said. 😢
- Dogs in other experiments suffered ulcers in their mouths or intestines, and footage shows dogs lying in pools of blood.
- Staff often killed dogs without using sedation to make them less afraid and distressed.
- Over 100 dogs were killed in a single incident simply because they were no longer considered “useful.”
- Palamur didn’t have a license to breed minipigs at its facility, and when a female gave birth, staff painfully killed all of her piglets by cardiac injection without using sedation.

what you can do
PETA is urging the National Institutes of Health to cancel its permit for Palamur that allows this hellhole to serve as a “performance site” for drug and other companies that want to submit test data to U.S. gov agencies. We need your help to get this whole cruel operation shut down.
