Miami’s heavy metal quartet Black Tide has made a massive splash on the rock scene. The band is currently riding out a successful summer touring with the Uproar Festival and celebrating the release of their sophomore album, Post Mortem. We were thrilled to learn that in addition to being super successful, these dudes have loads of compassion for animals. Stating, “Dogfighters Are Cowardly Scum,” the members of Black Tide star in an unrelenting new peta2 public service announcement (PSA) urging everyone to report cruelty to animals. Check out the PSA.

Smart, loving, loyal, and innocent, dogs truly are our best friends. So whenever we hear any reports of cruelty, we have to do something about it. Thousands of dogs are tortured and killed in dogfighting events every year—all in the name of amusement and a gambling high. Dogfighting is illegal in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Dogs who are used for fighting are chained, taunted, and starved in order to trigger extreme survival instincts and encourage aggressiveness. If they win, the torment continues. If they lose, the suffering continues and ends in an agonizing death.

We prefer to take out our aggression in the mosh pit or by singing at the top of our lungs to our favorite Black Tide song—not by hurting animals. So if you’d rather encourage and promote love and compassion toward companion animals, be sure to report any case of cruelty to animals to local authorities.
