Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, New Jersey, will be hosting a live show on Sunday, September 4 called “Going Bananas with Crystal the Monkey.” Poor Crystal has been featured in a number of recent films, including The Hangover Part II, Zookeeper, and the upcoming film We Bought a Zoo. She is constantly being hauled around from set to set and forced to walk the red carpet at movie premieres to get a cheap laugh.

As babies, monkeys used for entertainment are taken from their mothers shortly after birth and forced to live in small cages, causing severe distress and depriving the animals of the maternal care that is crucial for their long-term well being.  In nature, capuchin monkeys like Crystal spend most of their time in the uppermost canopies of forests, more than 100 feet off the ground. These animals can never have their needs properly met when used for entertainment. The loss of freedom and independence has been shown to lead to loneliness and depression.

Call John Siciliano of Wildwoods at 609-729-9000.

Politely state why you’re concerned and ask that he cancel the “Going Bananas with Crystal the Monkey” event immediately.
