Want More Vegan Friends? Here’s How to Make Those Connections
Do you sometimes feel alone being vegan in a sea of those who eat animals? That’s 100% valid—but when you put yourself out there, you might be surprised to meet other students who are vegan or open-minded to learning more about vegan living. No matter where you live, you can use these tactics to make vegan friends!
1. start a club
Animal advocacy clubs are social hotspots for student activists. 🤝 They provide great environments to connect with others who share your values, and when you all work together, you can help pull off huge victories for animals. If your school doesn’t have a club like this yet, follow these steps to start your own!

2. apply for these positions
Want to change the world for animals and make vegan friends at the same time? Apply for the peta2 Youth Advisory Board this fall to collab with other students on animal-friendly campaigns, merch, and content. If you’re looking for in-person opportunities, apply for the peta2 Street Team and speak up for animals at music festivals and outreach events with your new crew. 🎶 Pro tip: Both positions can boost your resume.

3. connect online
There are countless opportunities to connect with compassionate people online. Join vegan groups on platforms like Reddit and Facebook and start chatting. Follow vegan influencers and organizations (ahem, @peta2) and talk about your experience being vegan in the comments section. You can also share your vegan recipes, tips, and thoughts on social media to spark discussions with your followers.
4. attend events
Craving face-to-face connection? Look for vegan festivals, potlucks, and other in-person events near you. Vegan groups on Meetup and similar platforms list events like these in your area. Volunteering is also a great way to meet other animal advocates—try asking your local animal shelter how you can help.

5. be positive
Besides making vegan friends, you can take your current friends and make 👏 them 🙌 vegan. 😤😤😤 You gotta be chill about it, though. Talk about how going vegan is one of the best things you can do for your health and the environment. Invite your friends to try vegan restaurants, cook vegan meals, or watch vegan documentaries together. People are way more likely to be open to something if the overall vibe is positive, so be the fun vegan friend everyone needs.
