How to Order Vegan at Taco Bell

When you’re craving a quick, satisfying vegan meal, Taco Bell comes in clutch with a customizable menu full of animal-friendly offerings. 🌮 PETA has been urging fast-food chains to offer more vegan options for decades, which has led Taco Bell to test many exciting new vegan menu items. Until the Vegan Crunchwrap, Beyond Carne Asada Steak, and meatless Naked Chicken Chalupa are on menus nationwide, here’s how to order some of the chain’s signature items vegan.

black bean crunchwrap supreme (or double decker taco)

Here’s a trick to remember for a ton of Taco Bell menu items: Order them ā€œfresco styleā€ so they come without dairy and mayo sauces but with tomatoes. That’s all it takes to enjoy the famous Crunchwrap Supreme without harming animals. (But keep in mind that ā€œfresco styleā€ also means guac will be left off.)

cheesy fiesta potatoes

These potatoes—minus the cheesy part—are a great side dish or snack. Replace the cheese dip with guac so you don’t support an industry that tears cows away from their fams, steals their milk, and kills them when they’re no longer seen as profitable. 😢🐮

cinnamon twists

Ready for the easiest step on our list? Order Taco Bell’s Cinnamon Twists as is—they’re already vegan!

black bean chalupa supreme

Beans play a starring role in a lot of these vegan options, and we’re not complaining. Black beans are ridiculously tasty and have the protein and antioxidants you need to stay strong and combat diseases. Make sure your Chalupa Supreme is ā€œfresco styleā€ or otherwise free of dairy.

bean burrito or black bean burrito

The bean burrito doesn’t have a dairy-based sauce, so just order yours without cheese. For a fuller meal, you can add potatoes, rice, and guac to your burrito.

fiesta veggie burrito

The rice, beans, and fiesta strips in the Fiesta Veggie Burrito are all vegan. 😁 Get the nasty nonvegan stuff out of there by making it ā€œfresco styleā€ and enjoy the fiesta of flavors in your mouth.

crunchy or soft tacos

Are you team crunchy or soft taco? 🤷 Either way, you can order a vegan version by asking for beans instead of beef and saying the magic words ā€œfresco style.ā€

spicy potato soft taco

Here’s another great potato-based item that just needs a little tweaking to be vegan. Say ā€œso longā€ to dairy and eggs by ordering it ā€œfresco style,ā€ and dig into your warm, spicy soft taco.

power menu bowl—veggie

Here’s how powerful this veggie bowl is: Leave off cheese, sour cream, and avocado ranch sauce (to help cows enjoy their lives) and you’re still left with seasoned rice, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and guac. 🤯 Plus you can add potatoes and red sauce? Game over.

veggie mexican pizza

Yup, Taco Bell has pizza. The Veggie Mexican Pizza is almost vegan as it is—all you need to do is get it without cheese. (You could bring it home and microwave it with some vegan cheese on top.)
