As part of the PETA2 “Jesus Loves Me Too” Christmas mission, Street Teamer Claire Rice of College Park, Georgia had this article printed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Instead of turkey, roast some tofu
With Christmas nigh once more, we are surrounded with the feelings of love and compassion. Especially at this time of year, we look for ways to be kind and to do things to make someone’s holiday season special.
However, why should this apply only to other people? Why not this year try to make a difference in the lives of the poor animals that must suffer because of our celebrations? They deserve to have a joyous season as well, which does not include being slaughtered for food, clothing, or anything else that’s part of our festivities.
Christmas should be about peace and compassion. Please consider going vegetarian this year and sharing your Christmas spirit.
For her efforts Claire will be receiving one of the new “Jesus Loves Me Too” hoodies available at cafepress.com/petastore. Congrats Claire!
If you read AP magazine, you probably noticed the awesome feature story on PETA2’s own Angela Modzelewski, not to mention the all new PETA2 ad featuring our buddies in Midtown. More to come on that! In the meantime, go out and pick up a copy of AP and give it a look see.
Punchline’s drummer PJ stopped eating meat at the age of 16. In his interview with peta2.com, PJ says that he just couldn’t stand eating the carcass of a tortured animal. PJ never wears dead animals either – he often sports a pink non-leather belt. Check out PJ’s interview with peta2 here, and take a look at punchlineaction.com for more info on the band.
I received this photo today, and I just had to share it with you all. If you’d like to receive some of PETA’s “If You Wear Fur Watch Your Back” and other anti-fur stickers, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll gladly send some to you free of charge. I’ve heard some of these stickers have shown up on products at Wet Seal too.
