Powerful Images from Lebanon

These photos, taken by a member of Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, give a glimpse into what the situation is like for the animals that are stranded in Lebanon. Many of them have been left behind in the evacuation process, with the U.S. and other nations refusing to allow people to evacuate with them.

Several animals line the roads.

One dog who is dangerously close to a trench.

A dog stuck in a pen next to a car that was bombed.
It’s insane to me that President Bush would force Americans to leave behind their animal companions. I mean, they’re family members just like children are. There’s no way I’d leave my canine friend Memphis behind to be killed by a missile. That is just fucking crazy.

For some reasons, the pictures weren’t showing up, but that’s okay considering I live in Lebanon and I’ve seen those cases all the time! The American University of Beirut is full of cats! You can’t even take a break from your classes to have lunch or anything!

I find it very outrageous that immigrants can’t take their pets with them because honestly I wouldn’t be able to leave my own cat here if I had to leave one day; she’s like my own child.

That’s terrible. It’s just cold hearted to not allow pets to come too. If I were there and were denied the ability to bring my dogs and cats home with me, I would stay too. I would not let them down and abandon them. It sickens me that people are only interested in people. I only wish their were more ways to help. Any ideas anyone? Hit me up with ideas or
