Style maven Audrey Kitching has become an icon in the fashion world. Her unique aesthetic has earned her the title of Buzznet’s style editor at large and has led to a burgeoning clothing line and features in Nylon magazine. If there’s one piece of beauty know-how that Audrey swears by, it’s that “true beauty is cruelty-free.” In her new peta2 public service announcement, Audrey reminds fans that no animal needs to be tortured in order for you to look fabulous.
There are no federal laws requiring companies to test personal-care items such as face wash, nail polish, or lip gloss on animals, yet major corporations continue to do so at the expense of thousands of animals every year. Animals used in product tests—including mice, rats, and rabbits—are routinely kept in cages and given little to no veterinary care before being subjected to hideous tests in which harmful chemicals are rubbed into their eyes, burned into their skin, and pumped into their stomachs.
The good news is that you can help stop animals from being blinded, poisoned, and killed in the name of beauty by taking the following steps:
